I like threads like this because they make me feel young - even though I’m not.

Best year of my life was 1970.
Worked all summer at Pontins holiday camp, Weymouth.
Really hot summer that year. On the beach every day, in between work, boozing every night and different girls every week. Met my other half there as well.

Only 3 years old in 1970 but I do have a vague recollection of my dads voice and two words: ‘Bonetti’ and ‘cunt’.

I was 13 ffs and the parents had just moved up to Yarmouth from Southend.

It was like going back in time, and in a lot of areas still does..

Re: 1970
Instead of just listing great albums of the year as I normally do, I just wanted to point out how quickly bands used to write, record and release classic albums back then.

The first 4 Led Zeppelin albums were released from 1969 to 1971.

The first two Black Sabbath albums were released in 1970.

Pink Floyd released 8 albums between 1967 and 1973.

As a contrast, apparently Guns 'n' Rose took longer to record The Chinese Democracy than it took Led Zeppelin to have their entire career.

Too much fuckin' perspective...
